I’m Camille, a French handpoke tattoo artist and illustrator, based in Fremantle. Some of you might know me as Backpokeher, which I created while I was backpacking through New Zealand and Australia. Hence the name.

Backpokeher is now Hug a bug. Same brand, same care, different name to fit best with what I want to share with you : discover the insects’ word and make it your own. I’ve now expanded the brand to local shops, where you can find my art through my stickers and prints.

I still provide handpoke tattooing in my private studio in the heart of Fremantle, so if you want to wear my art on your skin, hit the “booking form” page and I’ll make sure you got the tattoo you deserve.

Who I Am

My creativity exploded on the road when I met new people everyday, surrounded by nature and weird animals from the land down under.

I find my inspiration for my design in my travels but also thanks to my scientific background. I’m a former anthropologist who decided to embrace my artistic side.

I love nature, especially insects, but animals and flora have a special place in my heart too.

I started handpoking in 2021 on people I met on the road. They told me their story and I translated it into designs. Thanks to them, I could improve my skills in tattooing.
